A week? If I pulled that, back in the 70s, I'd still be grounded.

Ok. Here's the situation.
My parents went away on a weeks' vacation aaaaaaaaand
my friends and I found a Spetsnaz cache
Would they mind? Mmmmm, welll, of course not.
We'll just take it all out of the trench and
maybe hide the nuke 'neath the old work bench.
Is it worth my time to continue?

OOC: Question, Belushi, how would the kids in question find what, in-universe, is a veteran’s forum? Or is one of them related to your character?

OOC - Wolfman -
I was posting as a vet who was creating a parody of the second part of Fresh Prince and DJ Jazzy Jeff's magnum opus "Parents Just Don't Understand", feeding off the line Poobah said, "Take it from me, parents just don't understand." making fun of the kids in question.

Apologies for the confusion.

It was a bit longer than a week... more like a month in at least one case.jemhouston wrote: ↑Thu Feb 15, 2024 5:59 pm A week? If I pulled that, back in the 70s, I'd still be grounded.
The other one, it was a but shorter, mostly because they didn't stash the nuke on the property.

My muse visited me again. I can't believe the kids thought they could keep a nuke.

We’ll keep the cash underneath the bed
Well, maybe we shouldn’t.
Yeah, of course we should!
Pay attention, here’s the thick of the plot,
We made sure it was safe so that no one got shot
That’s when we all started to inventory the stash
So many twenties we weren’t able to count all the cash
Ignored the counterfeit, it was still a huge mass
You should have seen the cache’s explosive extension
We counted twice, more guns that one could mention
Joe grabbed a mag, racked a slide
I said “Wait”
He said “Why?”
I said, “Lets do this right so we don’t blow sky high!”

OOC: A more dramatized version of events, but kinda similar to the events.
IC:
They had the cash and gold under their beds, the gems in their sock drawers.
But they were quite cautious with the firearms, Semtex and other stuff. The firearms were disassembled and cleaned (instructions being readily available from the US Army Reimer Digital Library of all places). The grenades and Semtex were kept away from occupied buildings in the garage with the nuke.
In fact, the first hint that it was them who found the cache? Three of the biggest members of a notorious sounder of feral hogs (yes, we looked up the proper term) were brought to a meat-processing plant and donated to feed the hungry.

Re: General Discussion Thread
Anyone notice in the Rocky Mountain News online edition that some folks who fought in one of the "irregular" units during the Siege of Denver were actually a mix of anarchists, Communists (but not Soviet/Cuban style), and some other left types. They compare themselves to the Spanish Anarchists who fought against the Republicans in 1936-39 who were too close to Stalin, and these people were genuinely appalled at what the Soviets and their lackeys were doing. Where'd these folks come from? UC Boulder.
The difference between diplomacy and war is this: Diplomacy is the art of telling someone to go to hell so elegantly that they pack for the trip.
War is bringing hell down on that someone.

Re: General Discussion Thread
They're the people who want to bring Communism to the US. When someone points out the Soviet Union, their lackeys, and the former PRC, they say that wasn't true Communism.
That said, according to a book on the Denver siege (can't remember which one), mention those groups. Normally when Soviets' side captured a partisan, they tortured for information, then shot them. These guys they generally were either buried or burned alive.
The author wasn't sure why the Soviets did that.

They were probably labeled "Trotskyites" or something of that sort.

Re: General Discussion Thread
I've seen a flowchart of the Trotskyite movement in the United States between the 1920s and the beginning of the war, and the amount of party splits, expulsions, refoundings and out of no-where entirely new groups is headache inducing. Safe to say, all these groups mutually hated each other too.
