But EVERYONE hates the People's Santerist Liberation Front. Politics: Voodoo-Marxist, communal ownership of the spirit world. They have a penchant for getting wired on ice and dancer, so they're inhumanly fast (well, until their hearts blow out) AND clinically psychotic.
Then there is the Zapatista Army of National Liberation who controls the Mexican territory in Chiapas, so that are two of the factions that are fighting.

The Zapatista movement needs to be stepped on, hard… and that other group needs to die, plain and simple…

Concur with the Zapatistas-they need to be landed on with both feet, but...that other outfit is so crazy they make the prewar Sindero Luminoso in Peru look like saints.

They want to see the afterlife so badly? The US Armed Forces can help them rush their trip.

As long as they fight the regime, the regime does not look at trying anything stupid to the United States.

OOC, but after the 1987 Battle of the Baltic Exits the Soviet surface fleet was not that a threat, also it sends a signal that the United Kingdom is committed to fight the Soviets Anyplace, Anywhere, Anytime.

Would it give the battle group crews a rest?

Must be late in the year, since it looks like both Waikato and Wellington have been refit with LW-08 radar.

(OOC: thanks for the reminder/nudge, Lordroel. I've been meaning to tweak and repost the NZ OOBs I did for the last iteration of the board, but never got around to it.... )

Normally that task force would be built around HMAS Melbourne, but by that point in the war, she was in desperate need of overhaul, refit, and repair… remember that she had been decommissioned before the war and was reactivated due to the outbreak of the war…

Not the surface fleet, perhaps. But, there subs would still be very active. The Invincible class’ primary role was to lead an ASW group. By 1988 the RN only had four carriers (two Invincible & two Furious), plus the two ‘austerity’ LPH which could also act as escort carriers. IMVHO, sending one carrier to the Far East would overstretch the fleet and lead to times when only one carrier would be available for operations.

To bad, are two nice images, so we could not have Ark Royal escorting a British force to Hong Kong and then go back to the United Kingdom by the way of Hawaii, Panama Canal, do a strike against Mexico and then head back to the United Kingdom.

The world's most costly target drone.

Wasn't the F-14 / Phoenix running around 40% against the Backfire at war's start and going up to 55% towards war's end?
