The skirt looks to me like the lady is standing in a barrel. Is that a function of the skirt itself, or is she wearing it .... oddly?

I suspect that the cut is odd. Though I’ve now heard that this photo is older than the first ones in the thread and is of an earlier iteration so that’s possibly been changed already.

Flag officers making final decisions on formal uniforms should have to wear the things daily for at least a week or two before giving the stamp of approval. A week or two for every version. Yes, that male two star heading to a meeting with a high collar junior NCO jacket, skirt, and mid-height heels is on the uniform board. Don't laugh, they're always looking for people for the next uniform evaluation team....

That would cut down on a lot of the uniform silliness seen around. Note that the most dubious versions are often for the junior NCOs.
Re. High collar uniforms- no, not true, but it HEAVILY depends on how well cut & tailored the uniform is.

Also the material the collar is made of; if it’s cheap and and floppy, then it’ll need hooks & eyes to close up neatly at the front, and they can be uncomfy.

Otherwise, I think standing collars should be seen more in fashion ;)

The quality of the materials are supposedly very good in these uniforms, all high quality wool and a comfortable liner. The m/87 has got some terrible polyester mix that was in vogue in the 80’s.

Oh yes. Avoid that crap. My old SD uniform is a 1960s product in heavy wool, but I’ve seen more recent issues with a synthetic mix that feel horrible.

The army chief of staff has gotten one now. Looks pretty good on him. Looks like it fits in with the other Nordic uniforms as well.
