The question was the bulk of 28th infantry Aviation assets are from 38th infantry Division. Why is that?

The division's own aviation assets went to reinforce the 9th ID. Those from the 38th ID have replaced them because, simply, they're available.

I see that the Byelorussian Group of Tank Armies aren't going to impact the fight in the near future.
Though if memory serves, a Unified Corps with T-95s and BMP-4s already made it's way through the switching yards on D+21.

So, umm, I guess nothing interesting happened for about 46 hours?


Is it just me, or does the US 9th ID seem to catch more bad luck that other named US divisions?

That Cat B Unified Corps is interesting. It's very existence as a Cat B implies there may be more Unified Corps out there than the three mentioned so far. And Cat B isn't necessarily anything to sneer at - by the Soviet definition, several active US Army divisions would be considered Cat B. And a modernized T-64 is still a lethal opponent.

Random note re. those Soviet "Independent Motor-Rifle Battalions". I've been digging in some Russian language sources, and "Security & Protection Battalion" is more accurate - they are basically the body guard for the army HQ.

Yes, the 9th ID has been unlucky, from having its ROUNDOUT brigade taken away, to its aviation brigade H.Q getting hit, to this latest event.
