OOC: Just a reminder that there are three flying Superfortresses ITTL, Kee Bird’s recovery from the ice was completely successful…

OOC, if I had anything to say about it, I wouldn't have all three flying B-29s in the same spot for too long. I'm not so worried about some idiot doing something to them, than a tornado hitting them.

They are a national level treasure that needs protecting.

Well... Another weekend, another air show. This time, Goalie and I are at the SeaFair in Seattle, and we're the only F-4 present. The Blue Angels are here, naturally, and we've been chatting. Though they're Navy and both of us are retired USAF, "The Kids are All Right."

Had a good Seafair! Never seen Hydroboat racing before, and for both Goalie and myself, it was an eye-opener. Told one of the organizers that it looks like "NASCAR on water", and he said that wasn't far off in the description. The Blue Angels, were, as usual, excellent, and we gave an F-4 demonstration with 512. While Kelly Ray brought the 419's Wing King bird for a demonstration on Sunday as well.

The only problem was outside: that Red Couple from Portland was there, along with about two dozen like-minded individuals, protesting not just the Blues, but that "War Criminals" were also flying. Plenty of Seattle PD and King County SO on hand to make sure they stayed in their place.

I got accused of being a war criminal at McConnell last month, by some rent-a-mob idiots. i just cranked the stereo louder.

Did better than that: our departure took 512 right over those clowns.

Serves them right.

The idiots have a constitutional right to open their mouths to show people how ill informed they are.

Just as people have the right to express their displeasure without using force on them. The tower tells an aircraft to take off over them, then you haee to. Not following tower instructions can and have gotten people killed.

512 had no choice in the matter other than fly right over them. That was dictated by the winds and traffic.

That’s true, but doesn’t make it any less satisfying…

And we weren't the only ones: Kelly Ray took her Wing King (or should it be Queen) bird out over those clowns. Fifi did, along with at least one B-17, and so did the Blues.

Yes, those idiots have a First Amendment right to make total asses of themselves, but if the Tower says "Takeoff Runway 14" which took us right over those clowns on the SE perimeter of the field, well.....

Welp, it's my two weeks' active duty. Rolled up to the main gate at McConnell in the Beautiful Blue 260Z 2+2, with the Bowers & Wilkins speakers blasting Mike & the Mechanics' Word of Mouth.

I turn it down to show my ID, and the guard says, "Oh, leave it cranked up, sir, you guys had the best music."

Went to the DFAC for breakfast, food was of good quality, made sure to let the host wing CC know his people were on the ball.

And something's dropped out of ONI's archives, posted on their website today

Remember the Koni FF that was found adrift with the entire crew missing except for the cat?

Apparently, the director of ONI sent a Polaroid of the cat, lounging on the bridge chart table like the ship is his personal yacht, to General Samuel Eliot Morison Lodge with a letter asking, "Is he yours?"

Lodge's answer: "Haven't seen a travel claim from him, so probably not."

There's been a couple of Bermuda Triangle books out since the early 2000s that mention this. One author notes that no one in the boarding party, or on the destroyer that found the Koni, could speak "Cat" and thus find out what happened.

Deep in your heart, you know that the cat did it.

But did they file a salvage claim?

Prize of war. And yes, the destroyer crew got their money.

Why am I fixated on the word "Probably?" That's a non denial, denial.

See if there's a "Mr. Whiskers" in his Rolodex.
