That is how he would've viewed things. "Take care of unfinished business, and end the Communist Regime in Mexico for good."
The difference between diplomacy and war is this: Diplomacy is the art of telling someone to go to hell so elegantly that they pack for the trip.
War is bringing hell down on that someone.

Even if work on the Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71) isn’t sped up for the war, she’d still be ready by late 1986…

Former Texas Representative Kay Granger died within the last day or so. Do we want our characters to react to this? Or was she killed by the Soviets for being involved in politics?

Think that with here being a teacher and businesswoman she might be a target for the Soviet occupation authority in Texas, so she could be one of many who where send to camps to die and thus, nobody would know here in 2026 except being a name on a memorial.

Outside of America, I doubt anyone will have heard of her. As an aside, it does remind me of just how old some Congress members are! The oldest elected member of our Parliament is 80, but that's unusual. The average of someone in the Commons is around 48 at the moment. The average age of the U.S. Congress is approximately 58 years for House members and 63 to 65 years for Senators. Bit of a difference! even in the House of Lords, where traditionally we send politicians when their active careers are done is 70. IMVHO, the US is doing something wrong!

This is now the same thing when Lindsey Graham died a couple of weeks ago, in OTL he is something, in Red Dawn, he was just a normal member who expect of those who voted him in, nobody knew him.Bernard Woolley wrote: ↑Mon Aug 03, 2026 5:49 pm Outside of America, I doubt anyone will have heard of her. Re: OOC Thread
If I'm reading her bio correctly, Kay Granger was just on the city zoning commission during the invasion period. Honestly, I'm not sure every deceased member of Congress warrants a mention. But having said that, if memory serves, y'all did go to some lengths to give either Dianne Feinstein or Nancy Pelosi some heroic backstory/death, so I can see why is comes up.
On the other hand, there is space to do something with Lindsey Graham. He was a USAF JAG from 1982, and retired as a Colonel out of the Air Force Reserve in @. Easy enough to say he was involved in war crimes prosecutions in RDverse.

Agreed. He would've been involved in war-crimes prosecutions as well as going after anyone accused of collaborating in a POW camp.
