The higher fatality rate for the T34, presumably a combination of a poorer "OMG the tank is on fire" egress, and prehaps also due to the effects of the 90mm burster (the 90mm burster was probably too big and could compromise penetration at times but it probably did horrific damage when it did penetrate, but I'm wondering if Soviet crews expieranced that in WW2.

The claims by aircraft are...interesting.

The M4 was exceptionally good at getting out of it really quickly, straight overhead hatches and spring loaded too, it also had relatively soft armor that produced fewer splinters when penetrated and tankers wore helmets.

I'm fairly sure the hatches of the T-34 weren't spring loaded and the tanker's caps were only protecting you head from banging into a part of the tank.
