My favorite Hackman movie is "The Replacements". Yes, I know it was total early 2000's cheese, but I've always loved the combination of Hackman, Keanu Reeves and the soundtrack coupled with the underdog story. A group of friends and my family watch it every year before the super bowl.

Oh, I thought I remembered seeing she was 67.

IF this is accurate, it seems more disturbing.

That is indeed very sad to think of how that went down potentially.

We shall wait for more information to come out.

She died of hantavirus, he had severe Alzheimers and a dodgy heart and probably survived her by a week. Rotten way to go.

She was last seen on the 11th, and his pacemaker seems to indicate he died on the 17th. A week seems very much the upper bound for how long he might have survived her.

If nothing else, this has reminded me to call my family and loved ones every couple of days.

I was afraid that it was going to turn out to be something like this. It’s something that’s on my mind because I’ve been concerned about this scenario with my parents as they are in a similar situation to how it was with Gene and Betsy. Keeping close tabs on them to avoid that.

To be frank, what happened to them the way things look now, isn't so much disturbing but just sad. Really, really sad.

According to one of the investigators it is possible that Hackman did not even realize Betsay was dead because his Alzhimer's was so advanced. Shit. I'm calling my mother now. She is still sharp as a tack, but this really makes you think.

Fuck. That’s …. Sad. A while back, I started calling my folks every day, even if it’s just for 2-3 mins. Just to watch out for this sort of thing.

I felt like writing something more, ....as I've had to be caregiver to loved one with Alzheimers (though not the only one).

Basically if you are primary/only caregiver to alzheimers patient....especially in somewhat isolated area (from what I understand here), you do need some kind of contingency/worst case scenario plan if something happen to you. Door knocker, wellness check kind of thing...you need some network of support past just yourself.

I dont know the particulars that might have been here that didn't come through in this case though... sigh.
