It's Nazi punching day today!
It's Nazi punching day today!
Have you punched a Nazi today yet?
It's the guilt-free, all-natural way to express violence towards the devotees of the failed mustachioed man. After all, if you can't punch a Nazi, who can you punch? No V-E day is complete without one.
{Guilt free, lactose-free, organic, and pro-biotic. Illinois Nazis may be damp and harder to find. No non-Nazis were harmed in the production or promotion of this post, and who cares about the Nazis. YMMV. Not legal in all 50 states, even if it should be, or in some foreign countries.}

Can't believe I missed the anniversary of this...
https://cache.boston.com/globe/nation/p ... dex5.shtml
Can't defend the CO of I Company losing his cool the way he did... but wasn't really good form to go after the GI who counted on their CO to know what was going on (yeah, I'll say it... they were just following orders). Maybe rack up Sparks a little for not realizing Walsh was on the edge.

Not that it justifies summary execution, but by that point the Allies had already declared mere membership in the SS as de facto proof of complicity in war crimes. Throw that into the mix of those last few days and it makes things even more tangled.

It's not as if the SS hadn't done a great deal to cement that reputation by that point. Lyons and Stavelot come to mind.MikeKozlowski wrote: ↑Wed May 08, 2024 2:47 pmClancy,clancyphile wrote: ↑Wed May 08, 2024 1:42 pm Can't believe I missed the anniversary of this...

To be clear... no court-martial convicted any GI for summary executions. In fact, the convening authority did not even file charges.MikeKozlowski wrote: ↑Wed May 08, 2024 2:47 pmClancy,clancyphile wrote: ↑Wed May 08, 2024 1:42 pm Can't believe I missed the anniversary of this...
