Internet Archive/ Wayback Machine

Post by Craiglxviii »

Chaps and chapesses,

I’ve been doing some crawling through the Wayback Machine and there’s a surprising amount archived from www.tboverse.us, the incarnation previous to the previous version of this board.

I’ve been copying and pasting threads of interest (just en bloc, it’s too faffy to go post by post) and putting into relevant sections.

If anyone wishes to do the same, I’ll happily stand you a beer or five. There’s a lot we can recover.

I already salvaged what could be salvaged from the TLW section.

Technical question re. the archive file. You've said that only a portion can be accessed. I'm assuming it's the same portion, and you can't select which sections to access?

Ah alas, you’ll have to ask @MKSheppard, he’s been doing the techy stuff with it.

Can you please check the WWI fighter threads in Stuart’s aviation model?

Did anyone happen to save my Cox Proportional Hazards Analysis thread for RAF WWI fighters?

Well, the index page for RD+20 is there . . .
It's just a matter of of clicking on every thread on as many pages as you can, then going forward to the next snapshot and repeating the process.
Based on my experience salvaging TLWverse stuff, even if a thread was archived, it may only be the first page of a multi-page thread.

If old material can be saved and transferred over, it's a good thing.
The difference between diplomacy and war is this: Diplomacy is the art of telling someone to go to hell so elegantly that they pack for the trip.
War is bringing hell down on that someone.

So it is first post first comes policy regardless on who posted it in the Old board, as long as we save as much as Posabile.
