Goodbye, Parker :(

Post by gtg947h »

Yesterday afternoon we said goodbye to our beloved cat of 15 1/2 years. I cried like a baby and our 7 year old son is devastated. He was the bestest of kitties

Our deepest condolences for your loss. We had the same happen a couple of months ago. Treasure your memories, and remember, should you become the staff to another kitty… the next one is the successor, but never the replacement.

(Speaking as the staff to the new successor who landed here last week…)

Sorry to hear that. Seems he did live a good full life though.

For a Cat - To Love Again

Oh what unhappy twist of fate
Has brought you homeless to my gate,
The gate where once another stood
To beg for shelter, warmth and food?

For from that day I ceased to be
The master of my destiny,
While she, with purr and velvet paw
Became within my house the law.

She scratched the furniture and shed
And claimed the middle of my bed,
She ruled in arrogance and pride
And broke my heart the day she died.

So if you really think, oh cat
I'd willingly relive all that,
Because you come forlorn and thin
Well don't just stand there - come on in!

Onion Ninjas...

Our clan's down from four to two, both 12 or 13, but I'm hoping to add several young cats next spring...

Thanks everyone. We just got home after a week with family for the holiday and it was eerie not having him greet us when we walked in...

During our trip, and unbeknownst to us at the time, our son wrote what is effectively a eulogy to Parker one night when he was supposed to be sleeping. The room got a bit dusty when I read it. We're planning to give him a picture frame with a few shots of the two of them together as a Christmas gift and I might even quote part of what he wrote to go in the arrangement.
