Foundation season 2 - it’s gotten really good

Now that the necessary introductions and stage setting has largely been taken care of through season 1, the level has jumped up quite a bit in season 2. A really good sci-fi show, and I do recommend watching it. Asimov’s literary achievement has been well translated to the screen.

I tried to listen to the BBC R4 adaptation not so long ago. Snore fest. I used to read all the Asimov I could find, including the Foundation trilogy. That was when I was a book-hoover.

Well, it seems that I’m a bit late to this party. Just binge watched the first two seasons over the last four days. Seems Apple is running some sort of free trial that my son signed up for.

Over all, it’s pretty good. I won’t say that I understand the reasoning behind some of the changes they’ve made to some of the characters but it does seem that they are telling the story well. It’s probably better they have done it serialized for TV rather than several theatrical releases.

With all the “discrete” sex scenes I do wonder if the writers were channeling Heinlein.

What I’ve been able to find out about season 3 is that it has been approved but delayed by the writers strike. Speculation is we may not see it until 2025.

Oh well, that gives me time to revisit the books.

I'm not waiting for any Niven work film. Hollywood would screw it badly.
