Internal Voice...

Post by Nik_SpeakerToCats »

Uh, what is it called when some-one's 'internal voice' is expressed ??

This week, I did my shopping on Tuesday afternoon, headed home with a well-stuffed chill-bag and brim-full sholley.

There was a man aboard my *very* crowded bus back from Bootle Strand's 'Budget Mall' whose 'internal voice' was set to 'speaker-phone'.
You could literally hear him thinking aloud, endlessly disparaging thus & so, cruelly criticising any-thing and every-thing.

At first, I thought he was just semi-ranting / free-associating on phone, as too many folk do, but then he rang off yet continued his spiel.

Thankfully, he was *not* a frequent user of F-bombs --One of my colleagues was afflicted thus, often unto ~90% of his working vocabulary.

Still, I was very, very glad to get off that bus and finally be out of ear-shot, at last, at last, at last...

Phew !!

Tourrette Syndrome is the uncontrollable use of expletives.

There are a variety of mental illnesses that have the inner voice become the loud outer voice. I think it's a lowering of inhibitions and either not caring or not recognizing the effect on others. Their filter is just broken.

It's also totally separate from growing old, when somebody just doesn't give damn what most anyone else thinks. That's also a lowering of inhibitions. {cough Senior Chief cough}
