Leaning into the Americana

Post by Micael »

What do the Americans think, how good of a job has this restaurant in my home town done as far as appearing American goes?

Wish I’d gotten a pic of it with the late 50’s Chevy convertible that pulled up at the adjacent gas station though.

What kind of America were they going for?

It looks like they converted a Northern California Buddhist temple into a fast food joint.

I think leaning into the 50’s diner style combined with burger joint. Note the car up on the facade, they’ve got more stuff like that inside I’ve heard.

The building was originally a mini-motel with a few rooms for rent, it’s by the main highway by a gas station. Motels have largely gone away over the last couple of decades here though, people generally go for other options now.
