For some reason this just strikes me as the most navy thing ever.
Only the navy
Only the navy
So I’ve mentioned a couple of times that here in Sweden the navy staff has moved into the hardened naval base Muskö. Well with a visit from the joint ops command it was revealed that they’ve apparently had the Captain’s cabin trim from the cruiser Fylgia (1907-1952) in storage all along and have reassembled it as a briefing room as part of their new spaces.

For some reason this just strikes me as the most navy thing ever.

Fylgia was a super cute lil cruiser, but you probably should have snagged the admiral’s cabin from Svierge.Micael wrote: ↑Wed Mar 15, 2023 6:13 pm So I’ve mentioned a couple of times that here in Sweden the navy staff has moved into the hardened naval base Muskö. Well one of Fylgia’s main tasks was to show the flag abroad so she probably had some care taken in the fitting out of these spaces. Also I wouldn’t be surprised if Sverige’s admiral’s cabin pops up as like the navy boss’ new office or something at this point.Johnnie Lyle wrote: ↑Wed Mar 15, 2023 7:46 pmFylgia was a super cute lil cruiser, but you probably should have snagged the admiral’s cabin from Svierge.Micael wrote: ↑Wed Mar 15, 2023 6:13 pm So I’ve mentioned a couple of times that here in Sweden the navy staff has moved into the hardened naval base Muskö. Or they could just reclaim Gustaf III’s cabin from Amphion from the naval history museum.

Re: Only the navy
Actually since you mentioned Sverige I just remembered that they saved the stern ornaments from the Sverige class ships, including Sverige herself, so you could always do some decorating with that if you’d like. In general it seems like just about all of the figureheads and other ornamentation from scrapped ships were saved. There’s a fair amount of them in various museums.
