AI songs are getting better. I workout to various youtube music videos, and youtube keeps adding new songs to mymix based on what I listen to, lately a lot of the songs I enjoy working out to are AI generated, although none seem as creative as these Swedish songs, which are very impressive. Imagine...

It is some nice music. There's quite a bit of metal influence in there as well. However, the visuals, the voices, and the instrumentals are AI generated. The telltale is the harmonics and overtones, and the timing of every transition is perfect. Compare to something like Heilung ( https://www.youtu...

Something called Vyrma appeared this year, a sort of ”viking” music project. What intrigues me here is not only that the music videos are clearly AI generated, but it may be that the entire thing is, that is to say singing, music etc. It’s not entirely clear but there are things pointing in that dir...

So this is my personal opinion. To me it depends a lot on what your father would have thought of this. If he was someone that - had he been able to weigh in on this - would have felt that it would be appropriate for your mother to find someone else quickly, or if he would have felt that this is too ...

I went into the first book blind, not knowing what to expect. It was a bit protracted and slow moving during the first half of the book but then a big twist appeared and things got really interesting. It’s a space opera type series with a lot of comedic elements, which is a bit unusual for the genre...

Got to the ending now as well, I liked it. I think they have great potential for good storylines going forward.

I’ve been meaning to get back to this earlier but ah, life. I think what needs to be considered here is also the following: We know that the bronze age in Europe was cyclic in terms of war and peace. There were clearly periods, probably fairly extended such, where hostilities were more limited and t...

First steel has been cut for the lead ship.

This is a bit speculative yet with regards to some of the details, but it’s helpful with an illustration like this anyway to get an overall grasp of the fit.

Reporting now that NASA has been trying to recruit former SR-71 people to help get one back in the air:

This is not fun anymore, have to refesh 20 times just to be able to get to the board and post this. Something I’ve noticed is that it seems to be worse in the morning/before lunch European time. Then it gets better in the afternoon. If it is an external bot traffic event it must be primarily hittin...

Oooh, now that is interesting indeed. Thanks Craig!

The new Green Lantern based tv series is a far cry from the rather underwhelming movie that came some years ago. It’s actually good. Think superhero show with True Detective vibes to it. A tad dark and gritty, but also funny, and properly cast. Kyle Chandler particularly excels in the role of Hal Jo...

I asked Grok about this: ”**The error “SQL ERROR [ mysqli ] Operation not permitted [2002]” is a MySQL connection failure (error code 2002).** In this exact wording, it is most commonly caused by the hosting provider rate-limiting new database connections.<grok:render card_id=“124e93” card_type=“cit...

I saw these posted elsewhere and I find them very beat, wouldn’t mind getting my hands on the at some point. However while the rectangular jamming calculator seems relatively straight forward to figure out how to use the circular countermeasures one seems a bit more complicated. Does anyone here kno...

One aspect that I haven’t seen mentioned in the discourse is this: In the year 1700 the Russian army suffered a crushing defeat at the Battle of…Narva: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Narva_(1700) While in the propaganda they obviously lean heavily into the Battle of Poltava instead, which t...

This coincides with an SR-71 ”going missing”:
https://www.twz.com/air/a-sr-71-blackbird-has-vanished

I’ve gotten it a bunch today, as well as a CAPTCHA thingy a few times. Is there some heavy bot traffic at the moment perhaps?

Great, just…great.

Anthropic has set up a wet lab in the San Francisco Bay Area for physical biology work. It wants to unlock treatments for rare diseases, and its research has now gone beyond in silico evaluations, per Reuters.
