Forecast 'Bomb Cyclone'...
The forecast 'Bomb Cyclone' seems to have skirted NYNY region, headed off to the North-East... Reports seem confused, mostly describing 'sorta-Canadian' conditions across Florida, the Carolinas etc etc.. My contact in NJ indicates it passed some-what to his locale's East: Nasty, but seen much worse....

City of Fresno #116
City of Fresno #116 I don't know if Doc. Meredith had discussed my case with the Gillespies, but the new 'prescription' was a fast-track to the Engineers' Workshop training courses. I would not be 'queue-jumping', though, as their initial, ad-hoc 'Modules' had 'refreshed' enough skills to lower imme...

Re: Shocking...
AliEx summarily closed case as 'unsupported'. Ha ! Short of putting such 'spike covers' onto horn-tips of 'Hairy Coo' 'Sacrificial Goat' and pegging such beastie out when lightning radar warns a 'cell' is in-bound, then boxing-up remains for despatch... Snark: Hey, if AliEx will not act against 'Thu...

The Zenkthi
The Zenkthi were natural warriors. Their Zek sub-species were apex predators, devouring or enslaving less braw cousins. Three metres height, six strong-clawed limbs, fangs, osteoderms, big litters and an 'attitude' had taken them to the top of their planet's trophic web. After 'coercing' some unwary...

City of Fresno #115
City of Fresno #115 Doc. Meredith just shook his head at my next clinic's results. Some-what exasperated, he said, "Mr. Kinson, your 'Off-Piste' activities are worthy, valuable, morale up-lifting etc etc, but they are so *not* that essential 'R&R' I prescribed. I swear you have a serious ta...

Re: A study of stereoscopic rangefinders
Ah...
Hasty google-search required, as that's a new term to me !!
A very few ranging shots would establish beyond doubt if target is the size of initial estimate, hence distance.
eg destroyer vs destroyer leader vs light cruiser etc...
Then it gets bloody...

Re: A study of stereoscopic rangefinders
A thought: Given periscope constraints, wouldn't U-Boot range-finders be 'coincident' ?? ( And, yes, need for multiple wide, wider, widest stereo optics for light, medium, heavy weapons' fire-control that spawned infamous 'FUUSOOO !!' masts. How else, in that era, could you reliably track, tackle mu...

Been a while, but I read some-where that 'Dazzle' camo scheme was surprisingly effective against one of the two main types of optical range-finder...

City of Fresno #114
City of Fresno #114 Commissioning both new 'Front End' Pods at a 'reasonable' pace allowed extensive cross-training in both theory and 'Hands-On' procedures. Though some of us ranked far, far beyond this level, it was logged on formal record. Plus, most of the young folk now fully appreciated the of...

Sadly, he's now more reticent about that era's weird, wonderful 'WTFs', too many now thought 'NSFW'. But, if you ever hear of a unicyclist near-missed by a 'Blue Sky' bolt... IIRC, rider realised selfie-stick was drawing 'St Elmo's Fire', hastily retracted the 'invitation'. Survived unscathed beyond...

Shocking...
I buy a lot of discounted stuff from Amazon and AliEx. Latter can be *hilarious* due clunky translation and peroptomistic claims, plus absurdly excessive postal fees hidden rather slyly... The fad for 'multi-terabyte' memory sticks, a scant-few gigabytes with hacked addressing, seem to have 'fallen ...

Today, Postie delivered expected parcel.
NOT that peripatetic double-hob, though, which has apparently made its way to correct destination.
Postie was almost in tears when gifted the two 5-packs of Sharpies for him and colleagues.
"These will be SO USEFUL !! Thank You !!"

London's proposed immense Chinese Embassy...
The vast, prestigious, 'Listed' building the Chinese own (!!), yet do not occupy is sited scarily close to far too many Inner London 'sensitivities'. Plus their proposed refurbishment plans show a lot of 'REDACTED' usage. Meanwhile, latest report into renovation / repair costs of UK's Parliament / B...

The peripatetic 'Twin Hob' has not made a return appearance, but another parcel is due Tu/Wed this week.
For beating sense into the system, Postie earns two 5-packs of Sharpies.
For again bearing 'Twin Hob', Postie qualifies for consolation prize, those two 5-packs of Sharpies...
Win/Win ??

City of Fresno #113
City of Fresno #113 Building on the 'live' process data acquired by 'Cwm Fahr', the 'Cooberra' Tuggers filled their main tanks almost a day faster. Then, they focussed on filling the side-stream tankage. This was carefully timed for Kieffer's rapid rotation to bring them to a convenient 'sling-shot'...

Re: EasterIsland statues, and how they might have been moved
There seem at least three ways, depending on tree supply. 'Walking' them by rocking on their bases would be simplest and easiest. Ropes, and get the 'Inverse Pendulum' timing right... Have done similar with heavy steel 'machine' tables, which either took three strongest guys in lab to ease weight, o...

IF it scales and cost 'Moore's Law' with quantity, it will significantly change calculations for 'renewables' storage.
