Re: Late 1940s pocket pistol and derringer taking same ammunition...
Late 1940s USA 🤔 How about. 380 ACP for a semi automatic pocket pistol? And the Remington Model 51 for the gun. Bit of an oddball because of it's mechanics but doesn't an extraordinary character need an extraordinary gun? PS: Talk about not seeing the biggest tree in the forest: the Savage 1907! Dep...

Re: Hitler's Amerikabomber
Looked at and turned down by the Luftwaffe on the grounds of being resource hogs. The ratio was 3 or 4 medium bombers for every heavy and mediums were badly needed.

Re: The Marne Was Just the Beginning: How July 15 Marked America’s Rise on the World Stage
Exactly. The US Expeditionary Forces were using the French Chauchat machine gun, the French 75 artillery, and both British and French planes. They may even have been using French and British shovels. More, the gun in the picture is the Canon d'Infanterie de 37 modèle 1916 TRP. On the other end of t...

Re: North Korean DDG launch
What the ever loving F&#K did they do to make the ship rotate in two dimensions during the launch? Forget to remove the stops in the middle or something? I've seen videos of a bunch of sideways launches because I like to see the idiots watching from the opposite shore get chased away by the wav...

Re: North Korean DDG launch
Looks like the biggest warship they previously build are 1.6k ton frigates and corvettes. Is it such a big jump from there to 5k or was that just bad luck?
No idea what that yard is doing with regard to merchants.

Re: The Army cancels the M10 Booker, a ‘light tank’ that was too heavy
Not enough. The 105mm gun is too big for the desired weight. The amount of armor is too much for the desired weight. The extra crew person probably only accounts for around 500 lbs at most, and an autoloader would weight at least that much. What they needed to do is scale the gun down to something ...

Re: The Chieftan on US Armored Force tank kills in Korea.
The M4 was exceptionally good at getting out of it really quickly, straight overhead hatches and spring loaded too, it also had relatively soft armor that produced fewer splinters when penetrated and tankers wore helmets. I'm fairly sure the hatches of the T-34 weren't spring loaded and the tanker's...

25(27) -> 38. Not a near miss but at least they killed it fast. In case the want to try again, here's a vehicle to start from.

Ah, that's why they pop up, to penetrate the unarmored deck of modern ships and explode deep within. I always wondered why the prolonged exposure with the range of light AA.

Re: Today I Learned.....
I don't think the General B's armor would have mattered much against Exocets and Sea Slugs. We are talking about the deck, the turrets and a belt. The latter being mostly below the waterline. In other words the superstructure and hull above the waterline isn't protected and that's where missiles lik...
